The solidarity rally was a great success. It was peaceful and an informative session on the perfect day,
“International Human Rights Day!”
The IAM was glad to take part in this event to show solidarity and support for our Brothers and Sisters in Manila, who have lost their jobs in order that a greedy CEO can continue to fill his pockets by using cheaper, outsourced, non-unionized labour.
A big shout out to the CAW for inviting us and for organizing this important event. We would like to thank the members who were able to come out to the rally and there was significant involvement with the other unions such as the CAW, CUPE, CEP & the Filipino Migrant Workers’ Movement. Thanks to the marshallers who kept everyone safe and to all the volunteers who helped to facilitate the event.
The corporate ‘race to the bottom’ and the accumulative attacks on workers in this country or other countries around the world are not going away soon. Organized labour and the rights of workers are not going away either.
