CANADA LABOUR CHANGES
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
As many of you are aware, the Federal Government has enacted several amendments
to the Canada Labour Code via Bills C-63 and C-86. A number of the amendments are
effective September 1, 2019.
Air Canada released an FAQ (frequently ask questions) – CLC (Canada Labour Code)
communication on August 28th which provides their interpretation of the current
changes to the code. Air Canada has also advised that the Federal Government has
granted interim relief regarding the application of some of the new scheduling
provisions.
The IAMAW has been working closely with our legal counsel to ensure all relevant
information is analyzed and to determine if challenges to Air Canada’s application of
the amendments will be necessary.
