UPDATE: AIR CANADA / AVEOS HEARINGS AT THE CIRB

TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE IAMAW

UPDATE: AIR CANADA / AVEOS HEARINGS AT THE CIRB

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The Lawyers working for the Union and IAMAW members attended the CIRB hearing in Ottawa on November 29, 2010.

The subject of the hearing was the application by Air Canada, which was supported by Aveos that asked the CIRB to “disallow the submission of the IAMAW’s Financial Expert into the hearings.”

Due to the fact that the submissions and resulting discussions contained information that is considered confidential in nature, the members that were in attendance were asked to leave the hearing room.

The CIRB heard the arguments from the parties and has decided to reserve their decision on whether to allow our Expert’s report into evidence.

At this point there is no deadline for the Board to issue their decision.

The next hearings are scheduled for December 20th through 23rd in Ottawa.

Your Union will update you as we get additional information.

In solidarity,

Chuck Atkinson
President and Directing General Chairperson
