TO IAMAW MEMBERS – DAY OF MOURNING *SAFETY REMINDER*

Dear IAMAW Membership,

We would like to take a moment to thank all those who observed the National Day of Mourning on April 28th, 2023 and also those who attended the event hosted by the GTAA to remember our brothers and sisters who lost their lives on the job or were injured. It was a solemn reminder of the importance of safety in our workplaces.

During the event, we were reminded that safety is everyone’s responsibility. No matter your role or position, we all have a duty to ensure that our workplaces are safe for ourselves and our fellow workers. We must remain vigilant and mindful of potential hazards, and take the necessary steps to mitigate them.

As we move forward, we would like to reiterate the importance of safety in everything we do. It is not just a policy or a set of rules, but a mindset that should guide our actions each and every day. We owe it to ourselves and to our families to come home from work safe and sound. Let us continue to work together to create a culture of safety in our workplaces. By doing so, we honor the memory of those who have been lost, and ensure that their sacrifices were not in vain.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your designated Health and Safety committee representatives, your local Shop Committee or your General Chairperson should you have any questions.

In solidarity,

Mahmoud Khatib
