NOTICE
All IAMAW MEMBERSHIP- Air Canada YYZ and YOW – Heat Warnings – June 19, 2024
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Environment and Climate Change Canada has recently issued heat warnings for our region, indicating a significant increase in temperatures. This can pose serious health risks, particularly for those of us working outdoors.
We want to remind all members to exercise caution during this period. Staying hydrated is crucial. Drink plenty of water throughout your shift. Taking regular breaks in shaded or cooler areas is also important to allow your body to cool down. Please communicate the need for a break to manpower and your manager promptly. Safety is paramount during these extreme weather conditions and your health takes priority over all else.
It is also important to know the signs of heat-related illnesses. Be aware of symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, rapid heartbeat, and extreme thirst. If you or a colleague exhibit any of these signs, report this to your manager and seek medical attention immediately. Your health and safety are the top priority.
If you have any concerns or require further information, do not hesitate to contact your Health and Safety Committee, your Shop Committee representatives, or myself. Stay safe and take care.
