ATT: All Cabins Members July 7 2025
Over the past several months, the Shop Committee, in collaboration with our partners on the Health and Safety Committee, has been consistently raising concerns regarding a serious and persistent avian (bird) infestation in the warehouse.
This matter has been thoroughly documented through the appropriate health and safety channels.
While the Company has made some efforts to address the issue—bringing in a third-party animal control specialist and increasing cleaning efforts in the work areas—these measures have not produced meaningful results. In fact, the situation has worsened. Birds have begun nesting in the roof rafters, causing the population to grow and the contamination to spread.
We recognize the importance of humane treatment of animals. However, this must never come at the expense of our members’ health and safety.
There have been multiple, well-documented incidents of:
- Avian excrement landing on employees while performing their duties
- Contaminated inventory and work surfaces
- Excrement buildup on floors and walls throughout the warehouse
This is unacceptable and unsanitary, and it clearly violates basic standards of workplace safety.
The Union is fully committed to resolving this matter. We are currently working closely with the Company to ensure a long-term solution is implemented. Your concerns have been heard loud and clear.
Over the next week, the Shop Committee and Cabin’s Health and Safety team will be coordinating a stronger push to end this infestation once and for all. In the meantime, we ask that incidents of this nature continue to be reported and documented. Thank you for all your hard work!
