TO ALL IAM UNION MEMBERS AIR CANADA CUPE STRIKE UPDATE
AUGUST 13, 2025
Dear Sisters, Brothers and Siblings,
Earlier today, CUPE, the union representing Air Canada’s Flight Attendants, issued a strike notice. Air Canada subsequently responded by issuing a lockout notice moments later. While this is an important step in their fight for a fair deal, it is business as usual for our members at this time.
This morning, the Company advised that most Air Canada, Rouge, and Express flights are continuing to
operate and that the focus remains on keeping flights running safely and on time during this period. After the disruption date, they intend to maintain support for Air Canada Express and PAL services. The Company also noted they will begin parking aircraft at Canadian airports and reminded employees to follow all safety procedures during this unusual activity.
The Company has confirmed to us there are no current plans to place our members off duty. However, it is important to note that this situation can change rapidly. Should their position on this change, they have committed to informing us immediately. We will be in contact with Air Canada management and will update you without delay.
Your safety remains the priority. The Company must ensure safe passage for all employees arriving to
work. If you encounter an unsafe situation, or are delayed getting to work because of solidarity actions by CUPE members, report it directly to your respective attendance office.
We stand in solidarity with our CUPE brothers and sisters as they fight for fairness and respect at the bargaining table. Their struggle is part of the larger fight for all workers, and we wish them strength and success in the days ahead.
Stay alert, stay safe, and look out for one another.
In solidarity,
