November 6, 2025
In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, many communities in Jamaica have been left devastated. Homes have been destroyed, access to clean water is limited, and families are struggling to rebuild their lives. During this critical time, we are calling on the compassion and solidarity that define our union family.
Through the generosity of the company, space will be made available on flights to Kingston to help deliver essential goods directly to those affected. Our role is to fill that space with the supplies that matter most.
We are asking all members across IAM branches to contribute what they can from the following priority items:
- Canned or non-perishable food items
- Baby formula and diapers
- Hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine products)
- First aid supplies
- Blankets and light bedding
- Flashlights
- Cleaning supplies (disinfectant wipes, gloves, garbage bags)
- Basic clothing (t-shirts, socks, undergarments)
Drop-off locations:
Collection bins will be available in all designated shop committee offices from November 8 to November 22, 2025.
All collected items will be prepared and shipped in coordination with GlobalMedic, who are already on the ground ensuring the safe and direct distribution of aid to affected regions.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to senior management teams across all branches for coming together and collaborating with us to make this relief initiative possible. Their support has ensured that these critical supplies will reach those who need them most.
In moments like these, the strength of our solidarity shines brightest. Let’s stand together once again and show what it truly means to be IAM Strong.
In solidarity,
Vick Seebalak Jonathan Bubba Smith
President Local 2323 Secretary Treasurer Local 2323
