Removal of Personal Effects and Tools from the Workplace

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On Monday March 12th at 0001 hours you will be in a legal strike position.

We must remind you that in the event of a strike or lockout you will not be able to enter Air Canada property to remove your personal belongings and tools.

We will remind you that if you do remove personal belonging and tools from Air Canada property that you may be subjected to Air Canada’s Search and Interview Policy. An excerpt from the policy is as follows.

Personal effects:

• The Security personnel will ask for the employee’s consent to search his/her personal effects.

• If the employee refuses to consent to a search of his/her personal effects, the Security Manager for that location will be called to assess the situation. The police may be called on site.

• The employee who refuses to consent to a search of his/her personal effects may also, in certain circumstances, be subject to discipline.

Please ensure that there is no Air Canada material in the items that you remove from the workplace.

If you require further information please do not hesitate to see your Shop Committee or Shop Steward. Please guide yourselves accordingly.

In Solidarity,

Joe D’Ermo
Clinton Tucker
