Bargaining Talks Break Off

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

This is to advise all IAMAW members that yesterday, at around 5:30 p.m., talks between the Technical Maintenance and Operations Support (TMOS) bargaining team and Air Canada broke off.

We confirmed with the mediator from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service that our legal strike/lock-out date is March 12,2012.

I have issued written notice to Air Canada and the Minister of Labour that the IAMAW will exercise its legal right to strike across the country at 12:01 a.m. EST on Monday, March 12,2012.

Strike preparations are ongoing at all levels of the Union. Please be prepared to provide assistance and support at your Local Lodge level.

Each Local Lodge will be responsible for strike preparations for their members.

As further information becomes available, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

In solidarity,

Chuck Atkinson
President and Directing General Chairperson
