Stay Strong and Support One Another -District 140 Bulletin #33

TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE IAMAW
WORKING AT AIR CANADA

Stay Strong and Support One Another

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

As reported in the media, Labour Minister Lisa Raitt has unilaterally referred the dispute between the IAMAW and Air Canada to the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) citing Section 87.4 (1):

Maintenance of activities

87.4 (1) During a strike or lockout not prohibited by this Part, the employer, the trade union and the employees in the bargaining unit must continue the supply of services, operation of facilities or production of goods to the extent necessary to prevent an immediate and serious danger to the safety or health of the public.

Due to the Minister’s interference in this process, our strike deadline has been postponed until the CIRB releases its report.

The IAMAW will abide by the law.

STAY STRONG AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER.

In solidarity,

Chuck Atkinson
President and Directing General Chairperson
