2012 Transportation District 140 Convention
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
This year’s Transportation District 140 Convention was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from October 23rd to 25th. I would like to thank Local Lodge 1763 President Brother Andrew MacFarlane and the members of Local Lodge 1763 for hosting a very successful convention. The Delegates to the convention were treated to a spectacular venue and the local hospitality, which is second to none.
During the District 140 Executive Board meeting before the convention, Brother Christopher Hiscock was unanimously approved as the new District 140 Vice President replacing Brother Marcel St-Jean, who has retired. The Executive Board would like to thank the former District 140 Executive Board members, Brothers Marcel St-Jean and Lorne Hammerberg, for their many years of service and dedication to the members of Transportation District 140.
In addition, Brother Sameer Jabbar was appointed to the position of District 140 Central Region Organizer to replace Brother Ian Morland, who has accepted a position with Grand Lodge.
The 2012 Convention saw the election of Brother Fred Hospes to the position of President and Directing General Chairperson. Brother Randy Smith was re-elected to the position of Secretary Treasurer. Both have been elected for a four-year term, from January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2017. I intend to work closely with them to ensure as seamless a transition as possible.
