2323 Bulletin – Facebook

April 10, 2013

ATTENTION

At recent arbitration hearings, Air Canada management testified that they had received anonymous information containing substantial amounts of printed Facebook communication among several of our members. Air Canada management denied that it knew the source of the anonymous information. As you are aware, these Facebook communications have been used to discipline some of our members.

Over the past few days, it has come to our attention that there are defamatory rumours circulating against IAMAW officials or representatives in the workplace about the source of the Facebook communications.

As a result of these unsubstantiated allegations concerning the source of the anonymous information, we have concluded that there is no credible basis to suggest that any IAMAW officials or representatives were the source of the information.

We urge you to refrain from perpetuating these false rumours. Should certain individuals continue to spread these malicious and hurtful allegations, your Local Lodge has been advised that it may bring legal proceedings against the persons circulating the defamatory statements.

In Solidarity,

Local Lodge 2323 Executive Board
