On December 11th, join us in an unprecedented show of province-wide strength, as communities all over Ontario simultaneously celebrate the resilience of injured workers who refuse to back down from the struggle for fair compensation (see the list of events below).
The holiday season can be a difficult time for injured workers who have been forced into poverty because of the WSIB’s focus on saving its own money by slashing compensation benefits. But injured workers are still here, and are only growing more determined to rebuild a workers’ compensation system that operates with integrity, and that treats them with dignity and respect.
As part of the holiday outreach blitz, we’ll be singing injured worker-themed carols, handing out leaflets, and collecting petition signatures for our Workers’ Comp is a Right campaign. You might even have a chance to get your photo taken with injured worker Santa!
Have a look below at the communities that will be holding holiday actions, and see all the info on our Facebook event. Please click “going” and share widely!

OFL Support
We want to offer a hearty welcome to all of the new members of our email list that joined up at last week’s Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) convention in Toronto – where we collected 1000 more signatures on our petitions from our brothers and sisters in the labour movement.
In addition, the delegates at the conference enthusiastically approved a resolution supporting our campaign!
Thank you so much for the support, everyone! In the new year we will be reaching out to affiliates and locals to educate and mobilize around these important issues. If you’d like to know more about how to get your union involved, drop us a line here. We’d love to come and pay a visit.
MPP visits continue
Injured workers and their allies are still pounding the pavement, taking our message to the provincial policy makers directly. As a result our petition was read out in the legislature this week by members of all three parties, including one party leader and a labour critic! If you would like assistance in setting up a meeting with your MP to discuss these issues, drop us a line and we can tell you all about that important part of your democratic rights.
