District 140 Bulletin #45 -Transfer Request Cancellation

TO ALL IAMAW MEMBERS
AIR CANADA
TRANSFER REQUEST CANCELLATION

Members continue to contact the Union requesting assistance to decline self-initiated
transfer/promotion/demotion applications after they have been awarded. These members have made
the applications via the eVacancy tool on the Air Canada Employee Aeronet site. This “electronic”
process was introduced in 2016 and provides a superior level of convenience and confirmation. It is
user friendly, and has eliminated the need for the old paper forms and faxes of the past.

Although, there has been no recent changes to the rules governing employee requested
transfer/promotion/demotion, far too many members continue to approach the Union to seek help with
withdrawing applications after they have been selected. The Company has grown weary of our
constant appeals to cancel these self-initiated requests the past few years. They have warned your
Union that they will no longer be considered.

Requesting a transfer/promotion/demotion is a simple process. Your name goes on a list for selection
to the position/point of your choice. It remains active for one (1) year from the date of application.

Anyone having a current transfer/promotion/demotion request in the system who no longer wishes to
have it actioned, should immediately go into the eVacancy tool and withdraw it. In the event that your
request is granted, there is no right of refusal. You will be required to report to the location/position
chosen by the date assigned. Please note that withdrawal requests MUST be made BEFORE THE
CLOSING DATE.

Numerous Bulletins and GIC’s have previously been issued to warn members of these parameters. At
your Union’s request, a drop down menu was added to the eVacancy tool that reads:

Please note: All eligible applications will be considered. Employees will not receive a
subsequent offer regarding their application. It is the responsibility of the employee to submit
or withdraw their application prior the closing date of the vacancy.

You must click an acknowledgement that you have read and understand these points prior to entering
your name for consideration.

We urge you to be 100% certain before entering a request. Failure to report after you are awarded
the position of your choosing may result in discipline up to loss of employment.

In solidarity,

Paul Lefebvre
General Chairperson
Central Region
