UPDATE ON ARBITRATIONS
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Martin Teplitsky has resigned as Chief Arbitrator. This means that any future monthly dates we were trying to secure are no longer available. Therefore, at the present time, we do not have a scheduled Arbitrator(s) that will deal with cases on a monthly basis.
Transportation District 140 General Chairpersons have met twice with the company to get this monthly process back on track, but to date, we have not been able to finalize it as of yet.
Our next meeting with the company is scheduled early in March.
Unfortunately the procedure is multi-faceted but, we must deal with some sort of course of action to clear the backlog of outstanding cases, also a way to deal with the outstanding cases Arbitrator Teplitsky is seized on and cases that had been adjourned by him.
With the resignation of Chief Arbitrator Teplitsky, the Union and the company also must pursue Arbitrators for each Region to fill the void.
And, finally, it is a necessity that an expedited process agreement is put in place in order that we may move forward with the arbitration process.
We will keep you updated as events unfold.
In solidarity,
Tony Didoshak
General Chairperson
Western Region
