AIR CANADA/AVEOS TRANSITION BUMPING AND LAYOFFS

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Your Transportation District 140 General Chairpersons and the respective Shop Committees met on June 3, 2011, to monitor round two of the transition bumping and layoff triggered by the transition selections of members at Air Canada and Aveos.

Once again, there will be people identified as being bumped by individuals who selected to remain at Air Canada. Some of the effects from this round will result in layoffs in Airports and Cargo as people who transferred into the Maintenance Departments access their nonaccrual seniority to go back to where they came from.

Once again, Toronto being the junior station, there will be bumps from the other stations. As a result, members in Toronto will be affected.

A letter was delivered to each affected member on or around June 6, 2011. The return date for those letters has been communicated by the company as June 14, 2011.

The next scheduled meeting for round three is June 16, 2011, during which the affected individuals from round two will make their choices.

We thank you for your continued patience and support during this very stressful period during which you are forced by Air Canada to make life-altering decisions.

In solidarity,

Gary Sinclair
General Chairperson
