It has come to our attention that members are being solicited to write statements prior to having any Union Representative present.
We would like to remind all members that our contract explicitly states:
“19.14.01 In the event of an interview in which disciplinary action may be contemplated,
or where a performance meeting is held the Employee may request the presence of a Union representative. The Employee may have the representative of their choice provided that representative is available and on
shift and will not unreasonably delay the meeting.”
Under no circumstance should a member be giving up their right to Union Representation, this is inclusive of verbal or written statements that are used to obtain information regarding performance or disciplinary matters.
