/EINPresswire.com/ — TORONTO, ONTARIO — (Marketwired) — 12/19/15 — The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has reached an unprecedented tentative ten-year collective agreement with Air Canada. The tentative agreement follows a week of intense round the clock bargaining in Vancouver.

“This agreement provides job security for our mechanics and airport workers,” explained IAM District Lodge 140 President and Directing General Chairperson Fred Hospes. “This is the first time in over a decade we have been able to bargaining freely without the threat of bankruptcy or government interference hanging over us. This agreement provides our members long term job stability with Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and its regional carriers as well as an economic package that addresses their concerns.”

The IAM bargaining Committee will reconvene with Air Canada in early January to finalize the tentative agreement. Once this process is completed, the full details of the agreement will be communicated to our members during the ratification process

The agreement affects 7,500 IAM members in Air Canada Technical Operations, Air and Cargo and Logistics and supply.
