Negotiations Update Bulletin
February 10, 2012
Attention all members:
Your bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement today in the wee hours of the morning.
After many weeks of very intensive cross-table bargaining and a great number of proposal exchanges, we have come to an agreement. It is a four-year agreement with wage and benefit improvements.
We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the support you showed us daily in your work areas. Your actions and personal sacrifices, although frustrating for you, greatly assisted us in reaching this agreement.
You asked for a negotiations process that would see the Airport & Cargo Operations and Technical Operations business units negotiate at separate tables on items that directly affected their respective members. We can tell you this process worked extremely well and, in a number of areas, language was improved for clarity.
As you know, after Air Canada filed for conciliation, the government appointed a conciliation commissioner to try and work with the parties to get a deal. We definitely frustrated her with our unique acronyms as well as the late nights but she was a great help in achieving this tentative agreement.
Further information will follow regarding ratification and voting.
In solidarity,
Your IAMAW / TMOS Negotiations Committee
