PENSION CAP UNFAIR LABOUR PRACTICE COMPLAINT
Dear Brothers & Sisters:
As you may be aware, the IAMAW filed an Unfair Labour Practice Complaint pursuant
to sections 50 and 97 (1) before the Canadian Industrial Relations Board last October
regarding an increase to the maximum cap on pensionable earnings due to
circumstances that occurred during the last round of negotiations.
Following the filing of this complaint, there were a series of meetings between the
senior leadership of the IAMAW and Air Canada. Through these discussions, Air
Canada has agreed to continue these discussions with the purpose of seeking a
mutual resolution without the need for litigation or the assistance of a third party.
The IAMAW is hopeful that the parties can reach a resolution through these
discussions. However, should the parties be unsuccessful in reaching a resolution
through this process the IAMAW will proceed to litigating this matter before CIRB.
As further information regarding this matter becomes available, it will be
communicated.
In Solidarity,
Fred Hospes, President & Directing General Chairperson
Transportation District 140, IAMAW
