TO ALL IAMAW MEMBERS
AIR CANADA –
APPLICATION TO MINISTER OF LABOUR
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As a follow-up to bulletin No. 056 issued on November 13th, Transportation District 140 is
pleased to report that the applications to the Minister of Labour for the appointment of an
arbitrator had a positive impact.
Air Canada immediately engaged the IAMAW in discussion and we were able to secure two
(2) additional arbitration dates for 2020, December 10th and December 21st. These much
needed arbitration dates will be used to hear outstanding national grievances. The parties
have agreed to Arbitrator Christine Schmidt.
We are further pleased to report that we have secured four (4) additional dates for 2021,
also to hear outstanding national grievances. The parties have agreed to Arbitrator’s Christine
Schmidt and Corinn Bell.
Your General Chairpersons have already started planning for these important hearings and
are hard at work preparing the Union’s submissions.
The General Chairpersons would like to thank the District Lodge 140 President and Directing
General Chairperson, as well as the Canadian Office of the Grand Lodge for their guidance,
leadership and support.
And as always, we thank you the Membership. Your continued support through this incredibly
challenging year has been invaluable.
In solidarity,
Steve Prinz
