TO ALL IAMAW MEMBERS -EMPLOYED AT AIR CANADA -LAY-OFF MITIGATION PROGRAM (PENSION) MOA -UPDATE – JUNE 1 AND JULY 1, 2021 -RETIREMENT APPLICATIONS -District 140 Bulletin #23

TO ALL IAMAW MEMBERS
EMPLOYED AT AIR CANADA
LAY-OFF MITIGATION PROGRAM (PENSION) MOA
UPDATE – JUNE 1 AND JULY 1, 2021
RETIREMENT APPLICATIONS

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This document is to advise our members of a change to the process previously communicated to our
members with respect to retirement applications that had been submitted by members for either of a
June 1, 2021 or July 1, 2021 retirement date.

At Q32 of Bulletin No. 020 – 2021, I advised members who had already submitted retirement
applications for either of June 1, 2021 or July 1, 2021 prior to the issuance of the April 9, 2021,
Universal Mitigation (Pension) MOA, that they did not need to rescind their retirement applications.
This answer was based upon information received from Air Canada about how their application
process would work.

Your IAMAW Pension Committee met with the Air Canada Pension Department on Thursday, April
22, 2021, for our regular semi-annual meeting. At that meeting, your Committee was informed that the
process has now changed and all members who wish to apply for the Pension MOA enhanced
pension benefits, will need to rescind any previous retirement applications for June 1 or July 1, 2021.
The pension plan administrator has already begun the process of contacting members who fall into
this category, asking them to rescind their retirement applications for both of these dates.

All members who wish to apply for the “Temporary Pension” option under Section II of the
MOA or the “Unreduced from 55/80” option under Section III of the MOA, must do so after May
3, 2021. On or after May 3, 2021, all members who wish to participate, will be required to submit both
their normal retirement application and their application for either the “Temporary Pension” or
“Unreduced from 55/80” MOA option as applicable.

Further details of the application process will be posted on the Aeronet, no later than May 3, 2021.

Please monitor the Aeronet for full detailed instructions on where and how to apply.

Respectfully submitted,

Christopher Hiscock
Chairman
Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee
