To All IAMAW Members Working at Air Canada

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Your Union understands that you are going through some very difficult times; however, you must all be aware that there are potentially serious consequences if you are found to be part of an illegal work stoppage.

It isn’t only the Union that may be held accountable for any losses attributed to an illegal work stoppage.

If you are found to have participated in an illegal work stoppage, you may be subjected to personal liability as well as discipline up to and including termination by Air Canada and/or Aveos.

In addition, any actions by an individual that could be proven to be of a nature that is considered unsafe or threatens the safety of others could result in very serious consequences for the members involved.

As you should be aware of by now, the Canadian General Vice President, Dave Ritchie, has filed an application in the Ontario Superior Court that Air Canada has breached the Air Canada Public Participation Act.

Part of what the Union is seeking is an injunction restraining Air Canada from breaching the Act.  We need the membership to allow us to continue to pursue this issue through legal channels.

Your Union is asking for your patience and cooperation at this time to ensure that we have the best chance of protecting your jobs now and in the future.

DO NOT ASSIST THE COMPANY BY GIVING THEM A REASON TO DISCIPLINE YOU OR CHARGE YOU WITH PERSONAL LIABILITY OF ANY KIND.

In solidarity,

Chuck Atkinson
President & Directing General Chairperson
