Dear Brothers and Sisters:
An arbitration hearing in front of Chief Arbitrator Teplitsky has been scheduled for this Friday, November 9, in order to settle three issues that arose from bargaining. These issues are as follows:
1) General Holidays – For your additional week off, if you have ten years of service or more, are you entitled to five or six working days off when you are on a 6×3 shift pattern?
2) General Holidays – We are in disagreement with the Company concerning the following section: “the first fifty percent (50%) of the General Holiday liability will be distributed evenly every week.”
3) Compressed Work Week – We are in disagreement concerning the compression number [plus (+) or minus (-) 2%] in smaller stations.
Lastly, the Company has informed us that shift premiums will not be on your next paycheques. They are aiming to include these on your December 5th paycheque. The retroactive payment for shift premiums would be two weeks after that date.
We will keep you informed of the results of this hearing.
In solidarity,
Boyd Richardson
General Chairperson, Central Region
