TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE IAM & AW
WORKING FOR
AIR CANADA TECHNICAL SERVICES & CLERICAL
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Representatives from Transportation District 140, the Tech Ops Shop Committees and Clerical Chief Stewards reconvened Transition meetings with Air Canada and Aveos Senior Management in Montreal on March 15, 16 & 17, 2011.
At these meetings a number of issues regarding the Electronic Selection Form and the Transition Bumping & Layoff Process were discussed.
Due to the concerns raised across the system regarding the inclusion of the words “at my current base” in Option 1 on the Electronic Transition Selection Options Form found on the Destination Website, the Companies revised the language in Options 1 & 2 to reflect the agreed to language in the January 2009 Memorandum of Agreement.
These changes may have changed the intent of those Members that have already submitted options. Therefore, the Union requests that these Members review the revised Electronic Selection Options Form and if necessary, resubmit new Selection Options.
The next Transition meetings are scheduled for March 22, 23 & 24, 2011 in Toronto. At these meetings your Union is hopeful to finalize the Transition Mapping Process and the Layoff & Bumping Mapping Process due to Transition. These processes are required and will provide our Members with further clarity. In addition, the parties will continue discussing a number of other outstanding Transition issues in order to provide our Members with the information required to make an informed life altering decision.
The IAM & AW appreciates your continued support and as more information regarding this matter becomes available it will be communicated to you the Membership.
In solidarity,
Fred Hospes, Regional Assistant Directing General Chairperson – Western Region
