TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE IAMAW
AIR CANADA TECHNICAL SERVICES AND CLERICAL
TRANSITION PROCESS
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
By now, you are most likely aware that April 13, 2011, was not a good day for the IAMAW and our members faced with the prospect of making life-altering decisions on April 15, 2011.
Our legal team appeared before Mr. Justice Newbould of the Ontario Superior Court regarding our application for an injunction to freeze the Aveos transition process until the Court has ruled on the Union’s application under the Air Canada Public Participation Act (ACPPA).
May 18, 2011, is the date that has been set aside to hear the case regarding whether or not Air Canada is in compliance with the ACPPA.
Our legal team presented our case. However, the judge in the case did not grant us the freeze injunction but did indicate that he would be providing us with his full decision and the reasons for this decision by April 17. We will publish this court decision as soon as we get it.
TMOS and Clerical members must therefore make a transition selection by Friday, April 15, 2011,11:59 P.M., PDT.
In solidarity,
Chuck Atkinson
President and Directing General Chairperson
