AIR CANADA IAMAW PENSION COMMITTEE
RETIREE REPRESENTATIVE
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
As directed by the Delegates of the 2012 District Lodge 140 Convention and in accordance with Transportation District Lodge 140 Policy No. 41, we are posting for the position of the Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee Retiree Representative.
The initial term of office for the Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee Retiree Representative shall commence on January 1, 2014 and the term of office shall be four (4) years. The decision on appointment shall be made by the DL140 Executive Board.
1. Minimum qualifications will be as follows:
a. Must be a retiree from either the ex-CAIL or Air Canada IAMAW Defined Benefit Pension Plans as required by the PBSA regulations.
b. Must meet the Qualifications for Office in accordance with DL140 Bylaws 5.07 (a) and (b). Attendance at their Local Lodge monthly Retiree meetings shall be considered equivalent to attendance at a Local Lodge monthly General Meeting.
c. Having been an IAMAW Member or observer to either the ex-CAIL or Air Canada IAMAW Defined Benefit Pension Plans is a highly valued asset but not a requirement.
2. Remuneration:
The Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee Retiree Representative is not a salaried position of District Lodge 140. It is a volunteer position. All allowable expenses and per diems will be reimbursed by Air Canada or District Lodge 140 as applicable in accordance with District Lodge 140 policies and practices.
3. Roles and responsibilities:
a. To act as the Air Canada IAMAW Retiree Representative reporting to the General Chair assigned the responsibility for the Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee and the National PDGC as necessary.
b. To attend and participate in all Air Canada Pension Committee meetings.
c. To provide any reports or retiree support activities as requested by either the District Lodge or the Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee Chairman.
d. The Air Canada IAMAW Pension Committee Retiree Representative is a recognized position on the new joint Air Canada IAMAW Defined Benefit Pension Committee created under the terms of the 2012 Picher Award Pension MOA. This position is required by the Pension Benefit Standards Act for all Federal Pension Plans containing more than 50 retired Members.
