NOTICE
IAMAW AIR CANADA MEMBERSHIP – CLARIFICATION
ON PROMOTIONS AND TRANFERS (Cargo and Airports)
– YYZ AND YOW
SEPTEMBER 9, 2024
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It has come to my attention that there has been some confusion regarding the application process for promotion or transfer to Station Attendant Part Time (SA-PT), Station Attendant Full Time (SA
FT), Lead Station Attendant (LSA) and Customer Service Agent (CSA) classifications. We would like to provide clarification to ensure that all members are fully informed before making any decisions
that will impact their careers.
Please be aware that applying for promotion to the Lead Station Attendant (LSA) or Customer Service Agent (CSA) classification means you are open and willing to working in either the Cargo or Airport departments. Members do not have the ability to choose their work location. There are no guarantees where you will be stationed if successfully selected for the role. The same applies for applications to transfer to Station Attendant – Part time and Station Attendant – Full time, even when transferring from within the same classification from part time to full time or full time to part time.
We strongly encourage all members to thoroughly educate themselves on the specifics of any position/classification before applying. Understanding the role, salary, and other conditions associated with the position is crucial. Once selected for a role, members may find themselves with limited options and may be left with no choice but to accept the new position, even if it does not meet their expectations or needs. All information can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Please do not hesitate to contact your Shop Committee representatives or myself should you have any questions.
In solidarity,
