IAMAW Membership – Air Canada – Airports Department Locker Space Shortage for Female Staff

Dear IAMAW Membership,

I have been contacted by many of our sisters who have been patiently awaiting locker space to be provided to them. The shortage of lockers in the Airports department has affected a significant number of our female members. We want to assure you that your union takes this matter seriously and understands the inconveniences it has caused to our valued members.

The shortage of locker space has led to an ever-growing list of female members who do not have access to lockers. We want to inform you that we have raised this matter with the company, and are actively engaged in finding a solution. We are pleased to report that the company has acknowledged our concerns and is currently working to accommodate all members on the waiting list for a locker. The company advised that unforeseen circumstances from Health and Safety requirements have led to multiple lockers being removed from the female locker room area. This, along with an increase of female staff have led to the number of lockers being inadequate. They have initiated efforts to find a suitable resolution.

Your support and understanding during this period are greatly appreciated. We understand the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused, and we want to assure you that your union is working to address it.
Once a resolution has been reached and locker space is made available, we will communicate further details with you.
Thank you for being a valued member of the IAMAW, and together, we will work to ensure that all members have the locker space they need and deserve.

In solidarity,
Mahmoud Khatib
General Chairperson
IAMAW District Lodge 140
