Ian Morland Appointed Special Representative -IAMAW Canada

Toronto, On – IAM Canadian General Vice President Dave Ritchie today announced the appointment of Ian Morland as Grand Lodge Special Representative for Manitoba and North Western Ontario.

Morland joined the IAM in January 1974 as a lead station attendant with Canadian Pacific Airlines in Toronto. He became Chief Shop Steward with IAM Local Lodge 2754 in 1988. He was elected General Chairperson of IAM District Lodge140 in 1994 and has held that position until his new appointment.

Over the past six years Morland has been heavily involved in union organizing and was responsible for several successful campaigns at Toronto’s Pearson Airport. The most recent organizing victory brought more than 1600 Toronto Garda Airport Security Screeners into the IAM.

“It’s a new opportunity and certainly a new challenge and I look forward to working with our members in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario,” said Morland. He assumes his new post November 1, 2012.
