New York, NY – The 62nd United Nations Status of Women Conference begins this week
and runs through until March 23rd at the UN headquarters in New York City. The Commission
on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively
dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
This week, Heather Kelley, IAM Grand Lodge Representative for Women’s Issues and Human
Rights, will attend a week of meetings dedicated to advancing the lives of rural women and girls.
Established by the United Nations in 1946, the CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights,
documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world and shaping global standards on
gender equality and the empowerment of women.
