TO IAMAW FORMER CAIL MEMBERS
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
This bulletin follows bulletin no. 014 issued by Transportation District 140 on February 1, 2013, regarding the finalization of a grievance that was clean-slated during 2003/2004. This grievance dealt with Air Canada’s position that prior service with Canadian Airlines International Limited (CAIL) would not be recognized by Air Canada for the purpose of accessing post-retirement medical and life insurance benefits.
Please be advised that a list of members entitled to this settlement has been posted on the website of Transportation District 140 at www.iam140.ca.
Please note as well that this is a finalized list and all monies have been distributed. The settlement cheques have been sent to the members’ last known address on file with Air Canada.
In the event that a member’s settlement cheque is sent to a wrong address, or for any other reason the cheque cannot be delivered (e.g., member is deceased), the IAMAW will wait for the cheque to be returned. The Canadian office of the IAMAW will advise the appropriate General Chairperson who will attempt to obtain the correct mailing address. As this process may take some time to finalize, we ask members to verify whether their name is on the list of affected members and to advise the Union if they believe that Air Canada may not have their current mailing address on file.
In solidarity,
Tony Didoshak
General Chairperson, Western Region
District 140, IAMAW
