UPDATE: BANKRUPTCY
On March 27, 2000 Inter-Canadien was declared bankrupt.
In 2003 the IAMAW filed a legal action directly against the individuals and corporations that controlled Inter-Canadian in order to try to recover some of the money owing to members. This action was filed by the Union on principle, knowing the significant legal hurdles that it faced. It was not successful at the first level. An appeal of the Court’s decision is still ongoing and is expected to be heard within the next twelve months.
